02 | Empty Pocket
A pressing social and environmental issue, poverty is multifaceted and arises out of complex interrelationships.
One of the United Nations’ Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000 sought to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by halving the number of people living on less than US$ 1 per day. Progress towards this remains uneven and very unlikely to be achieved by 2015. Reducing poverty requires governments to focus on many issues, such as health, access to resources and education.
Empty Pocket has attracted the concern of five TiltShift teams, whose projects collectively aim to lift up the lot of lower income groups in their own communities, some by focusing on their nutritional needs, others by looking at their access to training and opportunities.
